Saturday, March 21, 6-9pmJane Doe is an exciting combination of two veteran performers in the Pacific Northwest.
Sonny “Smokin” Hess is the lead guitar player and vocalist for The Sonny Hess Band. She was awarded Best Lead Guitar by the Cascade Blues Association. Sonny has performed, sung with and composed with many of the region’s top artists. For 25 years she has produced multiple specialty shows featuring the finest blues women in the Pacific Northwest. Sonny has been the driving force in making each show a stand out for audiences which have garnered national attention and rave reviews. Ellen Whyte fronts the multi award winning band, Ellen Whyte Ensemble. Ellen is a rhythm guitarist and vocalist who was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall Of Fame in 2015 and in 2006, The Cascade Blues Association Hall Of Fame. Respectively, both Sonny and Ellen have received high marks for their work along with many additional awards they’ve garnered throughout the years. The combination of their considerable talents gives us something that is not rock, not folk, not blues, but something hypothetical as the name “Jane Doe” might suggest. All it takes is two exceptional voices and two guitars to pull it off. Kelly Pierce, our percussion/drum man, is like a brother to Sonny as they have played together for over 30 years. He is in sync with her groove and knows how to anticipate her next move. Saturday, April 4, 6-9pmJosh Cole has been playing bluegrass in the Pacific Northwest for over 25 years. It started in the late 90s, when he first heard "Midnight Moonlight" from Old and In the Way. That moment forever bonded Josh to bluegrass music.
He went on to serve as President of the Oregon Bluegrass Association and continues to host "Music From the True Vine" on KBOO-FM, the longest running bluegrass show West of the Mississippi. Josh's influences include Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, and Bill Monroe, many of whom are featured on the Josh Cole Bluegrass Show, his podcast with nearly 200 episodes of traditional bluegrass recordings. Josh has played in dozens of bands, along with running his own hard-driving bluegrass band for nearly two decades. That's why hometown fans have lovingly nicknamed him "The Elvis of Portland Bluegrass." Thursday, April 2, 6-9pmAward Winning Artist Trent Beaver is known as one of the Pacific Northwest’s premier singer-songwriters. His songwriting and style spans multiple genres such as Soul, Americana, vintage rhythm & Blues. Mixed with rock n roll swagger and country influences. He captivates audiences with his raspy vocals and heart-felt lyrics. Watching and listening to Trent, you will immediately recognize his passion for music and connection with his listeners, as well as his immense vocal and acoustic guitar talent. Trent Has shared the the stage with multiple larger artists throughout the years, such as, Art Alexakis of Everclear, Deana Carter, Sunny Sweeney, Ray Scott, Phil Keaggy as well as sharing the bill with names such as Zach Bryan, Marcus King and Morgan Wade to name a few.
Trent has been playing music in the Pacific Northwest and beyond for many years, while living for a few years in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he recorded in the renowned Fame Studios. After that Pete started the Irish music scene in Portland where he played at the Old Irish Inn on Barbur Boulevard and together with Nick Voreas, they delighted audiences every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. He has taken his early rock roots and combined them with his Celtic influences to create a hard-driving yet soulful sound. Peter has toured much of the world as a solo act and also with various Irish musicians. Pete toured as an opening act for the "Kingston Trio" and the "Limelighters". Bob Shane of the Kingston Trio called him "one of the best opening acts I have ever seen. He really primed the audience for us." Pete has appeared at the Milwaukee Irish Fest, The Minnesota Renaissance Festival, the North Texas Irish Fest and many other Irish and folk festivals in this country and abroad. Pete plays regularly in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington and at different venues during the St. Patrick's Day celebrations every year. Thursday, February 26, 6-9pmAn accomplished songwriter, storyteller, and all around entertainer - Kevin Dorin's music crosses genres while always dipping a toe in the blues.
Kevin Dorin is a Canadian songwriter and musician based in northern Idaho, known for his soulful blend of folk, blues, and Americana. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, he has made a significant mark on the music scene in the inland NW USA, where he is recognized for his distinctive vibrato voice and compelling lyrics. Dorin’s music often crosses genres, with influences described as a mix of Ed Sheeran and The Black Keys, while maintaining a strong blues foundation. He has performed extensively, including as the former lead singer of the blues-alt band *Bigger Fish Than Guns*, with which he toured across Western Canada. His solo work includes the seven-track album *Invisible Lines* (released around 2018), a critically praised project that balances blues and Americana with sparse yet captivating production. Dorin recorded this album in his home studio, handling most of the instrumentation himself, with mostly analog gear and microphones he modified. The album was mastered by New York engineer Carol Rowatti using high-end analog equipment, including a compressor famously used by The Beatles. Over the years he has opened for a variety of international touring acts such as AWOLNATION, Scott Pemberton Trio, and LeRoy Bell(X Factor/Elton John) & Madeline Hawthorne.
